The transition from late October into early November brought two weeks of unforgettable highlights

The Farquhar season pushed on through two weeks of testing weather, and true to form, the atoll still delivered.

Over the past two weeks, Alphonse Island has been a hive of excitement both on the flats and out in the deep blue.

The opening weeks of the Farquhar season were nothing short of extraordinary.

The 2025 season on the East Ranga has been, by most metrics, a reasonably good one.

The first official week of the season kicked off in true Alphonse style — with a bang.

This week promised to be one for the ages with the forecast showing winds easing off and big spring tides on the cards.

Eventually the river dropped and towards September the 2000th fish of the season was landed.

Its been a really enjoyable and encouraging week at East Ranga.

In the second week of August the weather turned in our favour.

The Fish Gods giveth and the Weather Gods taketh away!

The last week of July and the first weeks of August are prime time on East Ranga

The large group of friends fishing 19-24 July had a fantastic 5 days.

The last week of July proved very encouraging indeed with lots of good quality fish running into the river.

We have now been treated to some truly excellent fishing

At 10 July the average of 12 fishers have landed 145 salmon for the season.

The first 10 days of the East Ranga season saw generally nice fishing conditions – clear water, a good height and not too much wind.

20 June saw the opening of the 2025 East Ranga season with 8 fish landed.
