East Ranga Opens

20 June saw the opening of the 2025 East Ranga season. Always an exciting day, often tinged with a little nervousness as no one is sure what fish may or may not have arrived into the river system.

The number of rods from 20 June until 7 July is limited to max 12, to ensure best chances for all fishers. Decent water conditions and cloud overhead gave cause for optimism and sure enough the rods we graced with some lovely quality salmon.

In fact over the first two days 21 salmon were landed from more than 30 hooked - mostly in the classic two sea winter 8-14lb range and in lovely condition - and all lovely and fresh. The beats that seemed to be offering the most action were 1, 4, 6 and 7 with pools Rangavad, Skollatangi, Hofsteidsbrieda (lower), Pedro’s and Batsvad all providing action.

Marta and Julita have the Aurora (East Ranga) Lodge in fine shape and their team are ensuring fishers are looked after like Royalty!
