Norwegian NET Reductions
NEWS: Finnmark Nets Removed & Netting Reduced due to Tana River preservation.....to the benefit Lakselv and Norway's other far northern rivers
In an effort to protect salmon Tana river salmon (the river that borders Norway and Finland), the Norwegian government, in co-operation with the Finnish conservation departments, has moved to ban all netting along the open coastline, and to also reduce the permitted dates and times for in-fjord nets in the Alta fjord and Porsangur fjord - into which Lakselv flows where in-fjord netting is now only permitted for 14 days between 15 July - 4 August (Monday 6pm - Friday 6pm, not permitted on weekends.)
This could be a special summer on Lakselv!
