FIGHTS WON, FIGHTS LOST
The last week of July proved very encouraging indeed. Lots of good quality fish running into the river and days of 50 salmon landed by the 16 rods commonplace.
Notably the large male fish in the 88-92cm range proved very hot to handle, with long fights won or lost….then appropriately commiserated or celebrated in the lodge bar in the evenings.
We hope these runs continue for some weeks to come, and that the runs of strong and aggressive 5-7lb grilse – as yet still representing very much a minority of fish – start to build. Fingers crossed.
