LOTS OF FRESH FISH

In the second week of August the weather turned in our favour. Limited rainfall, a mostly clear river (that nice green / blue colour in which the fish take so well), and some general warmth meant guests were fishing with intent and confidence. It paid off.

The river is receiving heavy runs of hard fighting, large grilse – mostly male fish in the 6.5-7.5lb range - along with some large male fish. There is an interesting shift in fish density in the upper river with beats 7 & 8 becoming heavily populated, along with beat 3 in the lower river and consequently the upper section of beat 2 also. That’s not to say the beat 1 is not working – as the runs pass through several times daily it gives good action and lots of fish are hooked, and often lots landed.

In the last two days prior to this update the river produced 77 salmon landed and 95 salmon landed respectively, very positive for the rest of the season particularly in that the fresh runs are still very strong.
