PROVIDENCE FISHING REPORT
Weeks three and four of the Providence season delivered an outstanding showcase of flats fishing, defined by big giant trevally, powerful bumphead parrotfish and technical triggerfish. Across the fortnight, anglers experienced consistent action, personal milestones, and unforgettable days on the flats, with multiple metre class fish, several flats slams, and an impressive spread of species. Together, these two weeks highlighted exactly why Providence Atoll remains one of the most exciting and rewarding destinations in the Indian Ocean.
Giant trevally dominated the action across the two weeks, producing both volume and serious size. In total, sixty-seven fish were landed. Lauren dominated during her week, landing multiple fish, while Michael produced one of the standout fish of the period with a powerful 111cm GT, landed on the same day as a bumphead parrotfish. Andrew and Taylor both added multiple GTs to their scorecards, with Andrew winning a memorable battle against an impressive 106cm fish. Alan shot the lights out with several GTs and completed a full flats slam, while Jaco landed the largest GT of the period, a goliath 115cm fish taken in the surf. Momentum continued as David, Ben, Rob, Phil, Ryan, and Wes all contributed strong numbers, with Wes standing out by landing two metre-class GT’s measuring 103cm and 102cm respectively.
Bumphead parrotfish featured prominently throughout the period, with thirteen fish landed. Lauren unforgettably opened her campaign by landing a magnificent bumphead on her very first day. Alan followed suit with a fantastic bumphead of his own. As the weeks progressed, bumphead action intensified. David and Ben both added fish to their tallies early on, while Ryan became fully dialled in, landing three. Wes followed suit with two more, and Rob added another two. An exceptional few weeks of bumphead fishing and sterling angling from the group.
Triggerfish added a technical and rewarding element to the flats fishing, with eight fish landed across the two weeks. Alan landed a monster 53cm yellowmargin, while Andrew also added a quality yellowmargin triggerfish. Jaco equally landed a triggerfish as part of his flats slam. Further highlights came from Wes, who landed two yellow-margin triggerfish, with the largest measuring 54cm. Phil followed with two impressive yellowmargin triggerfish measuring 51 and 55cms respectively, while Rob completed his flats slam with a moustache triggerfish.
Bonefish provided consistent support across the flats, with thirteen fish landed during the period. Lauren, Alan, and Jaco all added bonefish to their tallies, playing a key role in multiple flats slams. Rob also landed a bonefish that completed his own flats slam, rounding out a diverse and rewarding scorecard for the group.
Across weeks three and four, Providence Atoll delivered an exceptional mix of power, precision, and variety. From metre-class giant trevally and powerful bumphead parrotfish to technical triggerfish and elusive bonefish, the flats produced unforgettable moments, memories and world-class fishing throughout the period.
