The lodge is sited close to the lower part of the river, its enjoys far reaching views across the nearby mountain range as well as the pastural farm land on the far bank. The nearby town of Breiddalsvik is a 5 minute drive. A largely fishing port the town has a simple store and a couple of bars and restaurants.
The lodge is comprised of 8 en suite rooms, a commercial kitchen and a spacious sitting/dining room with open log fire. There is also the benefit of a hot tub and a small sauna.
There is a heated drying room for waders and coats etc, a full service fish cleaning and storage facility, a barbecue.
Electrical plugs are 240v European style.
-
Whilst the Breiddalsa lodge can be accessed by the Southern route 1 it is far more practical to fly to Egilstadir and transfer the 1 hour down to the lodge from there. There are multiple flights a day and where possible we aim to have the guides drop clients to the airport and collect the incoming arrivals. If arriving at unusual times or exploring the East coast then there are hire cars available at the airport. Depending on group size we would suggest hiring a 4x4 as the roads are largely gravel and the quickest way is by mountain pass.
-
We are often asked for tipping recommendations by departing guests and suggest the folowing as a guideline:
£40/€40per person per day for the house staff to be put in wooden box beside reception.
£50/€50per rod per day paid directly to your guide.
-
Strictly fly only and barbless hooks at all times
Catch and Release at all times (Guides will use their discretion with bleeding fish)
Trout and Char should be released unless previously agreed with head guide/chef for the kitchen
Some fish over 70cm to be placed in ‘live boxes’ for Hatchery stock where required
